Well-Child Visits

Regular checkups that track your child's growth, development and milestones — from the first newborn visit through the teenage years.

Well-Child Visits
Overview

Preventive care built around your child's age and stage

Well-child visits are the foundation of pediatric care. At each visit, our providers track height, weight and developmental milestones, review your child's diet and sleep, and answer whatever questions are on your mind that week.

We follow the American Academy of Pediatrics' recommended visit schedule, spacing checkups closely in the first two years and then annually after age 3, with vaccines given on-schedule at the visits where they're due.

Frequently asked questions

How often does my child need a well-child visit?
Frequently in the first two years (multiple visits by 24 months), then once a year from age 3 through 18, per AAP guidelines. We'll confirm the exact schedule at each visit.
Will vaccines be given at every visit?
Only when they're due per the CDC schedule. We'll always tell you in advance which vaccines, if any, are planned for that visit.
Is a well-child visit covered by insurance?
Most insurance plans, including Medicaid, cover preventive well-child visits at no cost to you. We recommend confirming your specific plan's coverage with our billing team.
Can I bring up a specific concern during a well visit?
Absolutely — bring a list. We build time into every well visit for your questions, whether about sleep, behavior, nutrition or anything else.
