Sick Visits / Same-Day Acute Care

When your child is sick, they need to be seen the same day — not next week. We hold same-day appointments every weekday, plus a physician on call 24 hours a day.

Sick Visits / Same-Day Acute Care
Overview

Fast, unhurried care when illness can't wait

Fevers, ear infections, coughs, rashes and stomach bugs don't wait for a convenient time — so neither do we. We reserve same-day slots every weekday morning for acute illness, and a walk-in sick window from 8–9 AM at both offices.

Sick visits happen in a separate waiting area from well-child checkups, so contagious illnesses stay contained and healthy visits stay healthy. Outside office hours, a PHCA physician is always reachable for urgent guidance.

What's Included

What a sick visit covers

Rapid strep, flu, and other point-of-care tests when needed, with fast results.

Same-visit prescriptions

Prescriptions sent to your pharmacy right from the visit when medication is needed.

24/7 on-call physician

Urgent questions after hours reach a PHCA physician, not a call center.

Called at 8 AM with a fever and we were seen by 9:30. That kind of access is rare and so reassuring.

The on-call physician talked us through a 2 AM fever and saved us an ER trip. Incredible peace of mind.

Sick visits never feel rushed — they take the time to really check things out before deciding on treatment.

Good to Know

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be an existing patient for a same-day sick visit?
Same-day sick visits are available to established patients. New patients can typically be added same-day as well — call our front desk and we'll do our best to fit your child in.
What if my child gets sick after hours?
A PHCA physician is on call 24 hours a day for urgent concerns. Call our main office number and follow the prompts to reach the on-call provider.
Will my child wait near other sick kids or well kids?
Sick and well visits use separate waiting areas at both offices, specifically to reduce the spread of illness.
When should I go to the ER instead of a sick visit?
For true emergencies — difficulty breathing, severe injury, unresponsiveness — call 911 or go directly to the ER. Our on-call physician can also help you decide if you're unsure.
